Will of Mary Pearson of Fairfield County , South Carolina

IN THE NAME OF GOD , AMEN : I , Mary Pearson of Fairfields County and State of South Carolina , being sick and weak in body but of Sound Mind and Memory blessed be god and knowing that it is appointed unto all once to die , do make and ordain this my last Will and Testament ; Principally and first of all I give and recommend my Soul into the hands of Almight Gode who gave it , and my Body I commit to the Earth to be Buried in decent Christian Burial at Discretion of my Executors hereafter named : an as touching such Worldly Estate wherewith it has pleased God to bless me in this life , I give demise and dispose of the same in the following manner & form; First I give and Bequeath my Negro Wench named Bunk to my beloved GrandSon Nathan Cook his heirs and assigns forever .  Item I give & bequeath my Stock of Sheep running at Nathan Cooks , & Cow and calf Marked with John Cooks mark , to Nathan Cook his heirs & assigns forever . Item I give and bequeath my two Negroe Boys named Dicke and Jessee & one Feather bed & furniture - to my beloved Son John Pearson his heirs & assigns forever . Item I five & bequeath my Negro Girl Jude in the following Manner , that is to say it is my Will & pleasure that My beloved Son Phillip Pearson his heirs & assigns shall have & enjoy the use of the said Negro Girl until my Grandson Isaac Cook comes of Age , and the her issue & increase during that time shall belong to the said Phillip Pearson his heirs & assigns forever ; And It is my Will & pleasure that upon the said Isaac Cooks coming of Age the property of the said Negro & her issue thereafter be vested in him and his heirs & assigns forever ; provided nevertheless that if Phillip Pearson should incline to take the saide Negro at the Appraisement it is my desire it may be at his option so to do upon his paying the valuation of the same to the said Isaac Cook at his coming of Age.  Item , I give & bequeath One Feather Bed , two sheets , my Riding Saddle & Riding Coat to my beloved Daughter Mary Bond her heirs & assigns .      Item , I give & bequeath my Riding Mare & Colt & Fillie to my grandson William Francis Pearson his heirs & assigns forever. Item , I give & bequeath One Cow & Calf to my Grand Daughter Mary Reddish her heirs & assigns forever/ Item , It is my Will & pleasure to my beloved son John Pearson & my Daughter in Law Mary Pearson shall Divide my Wearing Apparel between my Daughter & Daughters in Law , as they shall think Just and right: Item , I give & bequeath all the rest or remaining part of my Stock , Household furniture & other property of what kind or nature so ever , to my beloved son Philip Pearson his heirs & assigns forever . Lastly I do hereby appoint my beloved sons , John Pearson & Philip Pearson Executors of this my Will , herby revoking all former Wills by me heretofore made , Ratifying this and no other to be my last Will & Testament. In Witness whereof I the Side Mary Pearson have hereunto set my hand & Seal the 13 day of March 1798

Personally appeared before me , William Pearson and made Oath , that he was present and did see Mary Pearson sign seal , publish pronounce and declare this to be her last Will and Testament together with the Certificate Inducted , that she was in her right Mind at the same time , and that he Deponent together with John Pearson and Mary Pearson Jnr in the presence of the Said Mary and in the presence of each other subscribed their names as Witness to the same .

Will of Major Grisham

The name of God, Amen. I, Major Grisham, of the State of South Carolina & District of Chester, being weak of body but of sound mind and mimory (sic), Blesed be God, Doth this Sixteenth day of October in the year of our Lord, 1800, Make and publish this my last will and testament in mannir (sic) following—that is to say,
First, I give & bequeath to my well beloved wife, Francis Grisham a certain bay mare & a sorrell horse, Item - I give to my son John Grisham a sorrell colt two years old next spring. Item - I give to my two sons, John and Thomas Baker Franklin Grisham all my land that I am possessed of to be eloly ( equally) divided between them, when of age & if they cannot agree in the division , men to be chosen to divide the same with Reverence to Good & bad water, the remainder of my personally estate to be eqaly divided by my wife & my son John, Thomas Baker, Prissilah, Frances, Sally & my stepdaughter Patty Trussell after my just debts are paid and I make constitute and ordain my trusty friend Cornelus Dorsey & Thomas B. Franklin to be executors in trust for my estate.
In witness where of I the said Major Grisham have to this my last will and testament set my hand & seal this 16th October 1800.
