Section A
Wedgefield Presbyterian Church - Leave the city of Sumter by West Liberty Street, veer right onto #763 just outside the city limits.  Travel to Wedgefield, SC, when you reach the stop at the intersection of #261 and #763 you would make a left onto #261 and go for one block then make another left turn and go directly to the church.
Wedgefield Baptist Church –Leave the city of Sumter on Hwy. #763 and go west for 8 mi.   When reaching the town of Wedgefield, the church and cemetery will be on the right, next to the schoolhouse.
Hair graveNew Salem Baptist Church –Leave Sumter on West Liberty Street, go to traffic light where Liberty St. intersects with the Wedgefield Rd. to the right and the Pinewood Rd. to the left.  Travel left on the Pinewood Rd. to the first street on the right which will be Oakland Ave., turn right and go 5/10 mi. to New Salem Baptist Church on the left.
Troublefield Cemetery –From the city of Sumter, go west on Liberty Street, veer right onto Hwy. #763, travel 8 mi. to Wedgefield, SC.  Turn left onto Hwy. #261, then go about 100 feet on #261, and make a right turn by M. C. Burress’s grocery store; turn beside the store and the road will take you to the cemetery, which is only 3/10 mi., it is near the railroad; March 23, 1988
Old Ramsey Cemetery –Travel west from Sumter on Hwy. #763 for about 8 mi., there you come to a stop at Wedgefield, SC.  Turn left and go 9/10 mi. to the Gulledge Dairy, this use to be the old Ramsey Plantation, the cemetery is somewhere on this land.  Mr. Ralph H. Ramsey, Jr., now deceased, made a survey of the cemetery in 1923, and the Sumter Chapter Genealogical Society is using this as our source of information.  Cemetery has possibly been destroyed.
Manchester Cemetery – From Sumter travel west on Liberty St. to where it intersects with the Wedgefield Rd. to the right and Pinewood Rd. to the left.  Go right on the Wedgefield Rd./Hwy. #763 until it intersects with Hwy. #261 at Wedgefield, turn left on Hwy. #261.  Travel 3.6 mi. there will be a small store and 2 houses, a short distance farther a wide road forks off to the right.  Turn on this road for about 200 feet, then turn sharp to the right, the cemetery is 1/10 mi. on the right.  The cemetery will be parallel to Hwy. #261.
Singleton Cemetery – Melrose Plantation – Travel from Sumter on West Liberty St., you will come to a red light that intersects with the Pinewood Rd, Hwy. #120, to the left and the Wedgefield Rd., Hwy. #763, to the right.  Bear right on Hwy. #763, go for about 8 mi., turn left at stop sign on Hwy. #261.  Go 3.5 mi., you’ll come to a fork in the road, bear right.  Turn right on Arthur Gayle Rd., go 2.3 mi., take a right then a left and go to the second road on the right, the cemetery will be about 3/10 mi. on this road.
Bloomhill Cemetery – Bloomhill Plantation once owned by Capt. William Richardson is situated in the southwest section of Sumter County.  Known now as Milford, this is quite a large estate and is owned by Mr. W. R. Clark.  Travel west from the city of Sumter on Hwy. 763 until you reach Wedgefield, SC which will be 8 mi.  At Wedgefield make a left turn onto Hwy. 261, go for 5.7 mi., then turn right at S-43-63, this is Poinsett State Park Rd.  Go 2.6 mi. and turn right beside an old house.  Then you will come to a fork in the road, veer to your right, road forks again, go left.  It’s about 1.2 mi. from the old house to the cemetery.  One will need permission to enter the property.
St. Mark’s Episcopal Church – Leave Sumter on West Liberty St., upon reaching the traffic light at the intersection of Liberty St., Pinewood Rd., and Wedgefield Rd., Hwy. #763, veer right on the Wedgefield Rd.  Travel for about 8 mi., at the stop sign in Wedgefield take a left on Hwy. #261.  Go for 9 mi. to the intersection of Hwy. #261 and County Rd. #51, turn right on County Rd. #51 and go for 1.8 mi., the church and cemetery will be on the left.
Fulton Cemetery – From the city of Sumter travel south on Hwy. #120 to the town of Pinewood, SC, which is about 14 mi.  You will come to a stop street, continue on for 1 block until reaching Hwy. #261, there turn right on Hwy. #261, go west for 2 mi., then turn left at S-43-808.  The road goes through a wooded area, but comes out at the intersection of S-43-51 and S-43-808, the cemetery will be on the left; May 1988
Maples Cemetery – Leave Sumter on Hwy. #120/Pinewood Rd., go to Pinewood, SC, turn right on Hwy. #261.  Go to Hwy. #808, turn left to Fulton Crossroads/Hwy. #51.  Cross over Hwy. #51, go 5/10 mi. on the dirt road.  There will be a locked gate across the road, the cemetery will be on the left after going ¾ mi. farther.
James-Boyd-Johnson-Garden Cemetery – Travel from Sumter on Hwy. #120, Pinewood Rd., to flashing red light in Pinewood.  From traffic light go 4.1 mi., turn left on Rd. S 43-51, go approx. 1.7  mi., turn right on a clay road.  There will be a brick house with a trailer behind it, follow this road around to another brick house with an old two story house behind it.  The cemetery is behind the old house, down a slight hill and across a grass field.
Johnston Cemetery – Travel from Sumter on Hwy. #120, Pinewood Rd., to Pinewood.  From the red flashing light in Pinewood go 1.2 mi., the cemetery will be on the left across the railroad track, in the edge of a field.  On the right side of Hwy. #120 there will be an old store with DAVE’S on it, right next to SC Road S-43-659, Rooster Circle.  Not the original grave site, the graves were in the CONNELL Cemetery about 200 yards from this spot.
Colclough Cemetery – Travel from Sumter on Hwy. #120, Pinewood Rd., to Pinewood.  Take S-43-97 south for 1.8 mi., then this road intersects with S-43-440, the cemetery will be in the northwestern corner.  The intersection is 1/10 mi. north of the Clarendon County line.
Graham Cemetery – From the city of Sumter go south on Hwy. #120 to the town of Pinewood, then take South Hampton Rd. (Hwy. S-43-97), go 1 mi. and turn right through an area where an old house and barn used to be, the road was rough but passable.  The cemetery was well kept and fenced at the time it was surveyed.  There is a large ditch or canal that is close by the cemetery.; January 28, 1981.
Pinewood – Weeks Cemetery – From the city of Sumter, take Hwy. #120 south west for about 16 mi., after going around a curve you will be parallel with the railroad.  The cemetery is 5/10 mi. farther, turn right at Gordon St. and go 3/10 mi., the cemetery will be on your left.
Reynolds Family Cemetery – Travel from Sumter on Hwy. #15 south until the dual lane narrows into 2 lanes.  Continue 1/10 mi. then turn right onto Nazarene Church Road, go for about 6 mi. and make a right turn.  Continue for 4/10 mi. after passing a house and before coming to the swamp, make a right turn through a field, the cemetery is 2/10 mi. on the left. 
Chosel Weeks Cemetery – On the Eugene McLeod farm, 2 mi. north of Pinewood, SC, on the Bethel Church Rd. (S43-29).  There is a small area of weeds and bushes a few feet off to the left, traveling 4/10 mi. from Hwy. #120.  Two remaining stones.
Geddings Cemetery – Travel from Sumter on Hwy. #15 south for approx. 6 mi., turn right on Bethel Church Rd. Go about 5 mi. to Mayes Grocery Store, turn left on Underwood Rd. and go for about 1 mi., then turn left on Eddie Rd.  There will be a large shop on the right, continue 1/10 mi., then turn left, this road goes by Mr. Geddings’ home and around a field to the cemetery; May 1992
Ardis-Big Ditch Cemetery – Travel from Sumter on Hwy. #120/Pinewood Rd. for 11 mi.   On the right will be a sign for Manchester State Forest, after passing this sign continue pass 2 brick houses on the right, turn right pass the second brick house, there will be a green house just pass the road.  Continue on into the wooded area passing 2 mobile homes before reaching a power line, make a right turn under the power line.  Go half way between the first set of poles and the second set of poles, the cemetery is in the woods on the left.
Ardis-Kolb Cemetery – Travel from Sumter on Hwy. #120/Pinewood Rd., go for about 10 mi., there will be a large sign on the right for Manchester State Forest.  Turn right on a wide dirt road by this sign, go 8/10 mi. to the cemetery. 
Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery – Travel on Hwy. #15 south for about 7 mi.  After you pass the Industrial Park turn right on Bethel Church and Furman School Rd, then go 1.8 mi. to the intersection of #77 and #251.  The church will be on your left; 1988
Cain Cemetery – From the city of Sumter, travel west on Liberty St. until you pass over Second Mill Pond, bear left at red light.  This will be the Pinewood Rd./Hwy. #120.  Go 7 mi. to the Harvin Farms area, turn right on S-43-506, proceed 8/10 mi., bear to the right, after going 2/10 mi. turn right and go 1/10 mi., cemetery should be on your left; October 22, 1977
Dead Man’s Curve Cemetery(Berry – Bracey) – From the city of Sumter go west to Liberty St., after passing Second Mill Lake, veer left on Hwy. #120 which is the Pinewood Rd.  Go 8 mi., after passing Enon Baptist Church on the right, it will be about ¾ mi. to where a curve was taken out of the road.  This cemetery is in between the old curve and the straight road, both are paved roads. 
Dargan Cemetery – Travel West Liberty St. until it intersects with Wedgefield Rd. to the right and Pinewood Rd. to the left.  Go left on the Pinewood Rd. till reaching the traffic light at Savannah Plaza Shopping Center, turn right on McCrays Mill Rd.  Go for approx. 2 mi., after passing Sumter County Career Center, turn left on Watts St., go 1 block then turn left on Ford St., the cemetery is located in the yard of #2655 Ford St.

Section B
Episcopal Church of the Ascension – (Shiloh Burying Ground) – Leave Sumter on Hwy. #76/378, travel for 10 mi. until reaching the traffic light at Stateburg.  Turn right on Hwy. #261 and go 11 mi. to the Hagood Community.  The church will be on the left, with meeting house and cemetery nearby.
Atkinson Cemetery – Leave Sumter on Hwy. #76/378, continue until reaching Stateburg.  Turn right on Hwy. #261 at caution light.  Continue for about 3 mi., turn left on Rd. #807 for 1.4 mi., it then becomes Rd. #346.  Go around a steep curve for 1.5 mi. to a brick two story house on the right.  The cemetery is opposite a barn 1.5 mi. below Horatio. Only one readable stone remaining.
McLeod’s Chapel Cemetery – Travel from Sumter on Hwy. #76/378 west until reaching Hwy. #521 N., (Camden Rd.).  Veer right and follow Hwy. #521 N. to Rembert.  Upon reaching the stop light, turn right on Hagood St. and go to the end of the street.  Turn left on Young St. and go a short distance, the church will be on the right, cemetery in back of church.
Pisgah Baptist Church Cemetery – Leave Sumter on Hwy. #521 N., continue until reaching the village of Rembert.  In Rembert turn right on Hwy. #20, travel this road until it intersects with Hwy. #920.  Continue on Hwy. #920 until it intersects with Hwy. #43, the church faces the crossroad, the cemetery fronting Hwy. #43.
New Hope Baptist Church – Leave Sumter on Hwy. #521, travel until within 5/10mi. of Rembert, turn right on Hwy. #460.  Upon reaching Hwy. #263, turn right, go about 1.3 mi., church will be on the right.
Brunson Cemetery – Travel from Sumter on Hwy. #76/378 west, veer right on Hwy. #521 North, just past K-Mart.  Travel Hwy. #521 to within 5/10 mi. of Rembert, turn right on Rd. #460 and go to Rd. #263, turn right and go 1.3 mi., the church will be on the right.  The two graves are about 4/10 mi. from New Hope Church, in a wooded area off Mayrant Rd.
Atkinson-Dinkins Cemetery – Travel from Sumter on Hwy. #76/378, continue until reaching traffic light where Hwy. #26 crosses Hwy. #76/378.  Turn right on Hwy. #261 and go for 7 mi. to Rafting Creek, next turn right onto Dinkins Mill Rd.  Burial ground and cemetery are on the left behind and beyond Dinkins Mill Gin.  Burial Grounds – Unmarked Grave: A mass grave between Dinkins Cemetery and the road contains the remains of 19 Union soldiers killed in a battle at Dinkins community circa 1867.
High Hill Baptist Church – Travel from Sumter on Hwy. #76/378 west, go 10 mi. to where Hwy. #76/378 intersects with Hwy. #261.  Turn right on Hwy. #261 and go approx. 3.5 mi., the sign for High Hills will be on the right at Rd. #448.  The church and cemetery are approx. 5/10 mi. off Hwy. #261.
Bethesda Methodist Church – Leave Sumter on Hwy. #76/378 west, upon reaching the caution light where Hwy. #261 crosses Hwy. #76/378, Stateburg, turn right on Hwy. #261.  Continue for 5 mi., on the left will be a small road sign with Bethesda on it.  There will also be a wide dirt road leading to the church cemetery.
Church of the Holy Cross – Leave the city of Sumter on US Hwy. 76 and 378 west and continue on to the intersection of SC Hwy. 261 (about 12 mi.).  Turn right on 261 and continue for about ¾ of a mile.  The church and cemetery are on the right.
Thomas Sumter Memorial Park – Travel from Sumter on Hwy. #76/378 west, go 11 mi. to the traffic light at the junction of Hwy. #76/378 and Hwy. #261.  Turn right on Hwy. #261 and go to Meeting House Rd., turn right and go to Acton Rd., turn right and follow the signs.  This cemetery can also be reached by turning right on Hwy. #441 just past the gate to Shaw Air Force Base.  Continue on Hwy. #441 to Pinckney’s Crossroads, turn left on Fish Rd. and follow the signs to Sumter’s Park.
Spring Bank Baptist Church – Travel from Sumter on Hwy. #76/378, just past Shaw Air Force Base turn right on Hwy. #441.  Travel for about 3 mi. to Pinckney Crossroad, turn left onto Fish Rd.  Spring Bank Church and cemetery will be about 1 mi. on the right.  Cemetery is just down the hill from the church.
Allen Cemetery – Travel from Sumter on Hwy. #76/378 west, just past Shaw Air Force Base turn right onto Hwy. #441.  Continue until reaching Catchall Rd., turn left on Catchall and go 7/10 mi.  The cemetery is in a grove of trees covered with vines.
Long Branch Baptist Church – From Sumter take Hwy. #76/378 west to Hwy. #441, just past the entrance to Shaw Air Force Base.  Turn right onto Hwy. #441 and go 2.5 mi. to Pinckney’s Crossroad.  The church and cemetery will be on the right.
Providence Southern Methodist Church Cemetery – Starting at the traffic light in front of K-Mart, travel from Sumter on Hwy. #521 north for 8.2 mi.  Turn right on road S-43-278, there will also be a sign for “Providence Southern Methodist Church”, this will be near Hillcrest High School.  Travel for 1/10 of a mile to the church and cemetery.
Horeb Baptist Church Cemetery – Leave Sumter on Hwy. #521 north, go thru Dalzell for about 1 mi.  Turn right on Hwy. #278 and go 5/10 of a mile, the church and cemetery will be on the left.  The cemetery is inside a fence and the church is built out of white boards.
Ross Memorial Cemetery – Leave Sumter on Hwy. #521 north, go thru Dalzell for about 1 mi.  Turn right on Hwy. #278 and go 5/10 of a mile, on the left will be Horeb Baptist Church and cemetery.  Just past Horeb is a dirt road, turn left on this road and Ross Cemetery will be directly behind Horeb.
Spann Cemetery – Leave Sumter on Hwy. #521 north to Dalzell, turn right on Hwy. #43, go to Hwy. #441, Gaillards Crossroads.  Turn right and go approx. 2 mi., the cemetery is located in an old cow pasture on the left.  After entering the pasture it is about 4/10 mi. to a grove of oak trees where the four remaining stones are located.
Spann-Carson Cemetery – Travel from Sumter on Hwy. #76/378 west, go for 2.1 mi. and turn right on Rd. S43-91 (Stamey Livestock Rd.)  Travel 2.4 mi. until reaching a dirt road leading off to the left on a curve.  This is Old Frierson Rd.  Go 1 mi. and the old cemetery is in a field on the right.  The property is presently owned by Mr. Billy Carter. 3 stones remaining.
Spann grave – Travel from Sumter on Hwy. #521 north, (from traffic light in front of K-Mart), go for 3.7 mi.  Turn right on Rd. S43-457 and continue for 1.6 mi. past Ebenezer School and intersect Hwy. #92.  Turn right and go 2/10 of a mile crossing a bridge with a mill pond on the left, turn left on the dirt road and go about 5/10 of a mile.  On the right will be a large old fashion house with the name W. C. Phillips on the mail box.  In the yard is a stone which was brought in from a field.  It is lying on the ground and is cracked into several pieces: Charles Spann d. 1834 age 52.
Tirzah Presbyterian Church Cemetery – Travel from Sumter on Hwy. #521 north, continue until reaching the small village of Dalzell.  The church is located in the heart of Dalzell.  The cemetery is to the right of the church and is enclosed with a fence.
Jennings’ Cemetery – Travel from Sumter on Hwy. #521 north, continue for 6.2 mi.  Turn left on Rd. S43-91 and go 1/10 of a mile.  On the right there will be three electric power poles and an area of trees and undergrowth. Only one stone was uncovered under two inches of dirt and leaves: W. B. s/o Hastin & Sarah Jennings d. 1827 37 yrs, 5 mos & 22 days.
Darrington Cemetery – Travel from Sumter on Hwy. #76/378 west. After passing Shaw Air Force Base turn right on Hwy. #441.  The cemetery is near the Furman Church School marker and 1.1 mi. south of Hillcrest School.  It is in a wooded area to the right side of a field containing tall canes, with a single pine tree in the middle of the field and is situated approx. 200 yards north of this highway.
Long grave – Travel from Sumter on Hwy. #76/378 west.  After passing Shaw Air Force Base turn right on Hwy. #441.  Continue on Hwy. #441 for about 1.3 mi., there will be a small sign on the left with “Dundell” on it.  The property, known as Dundell Farm/Dundell Gardens, is private.  The care taker stated that he has never seen a grave on the property.  In 1976 the stone was reported as under ground.
Bradford Cemetery – Travel from Sumter on Hwy. #521 north for 3 mi. to White Cemetery.  Turn right and go 1.4 mi., turn left on old road.
Vaughan Cemetery – Travel from Sumter on Broad St. until reaching the traffic light at the Broad St. and Alice Dr. intersection, turn right on Alice Dr., going toward Hwy. #521.  Go 1/10 of a mile where the road crosses a ditch, walk along the ditch the length of the field and turn right at the edge of the woods.  There will be a large tree about fifty feet from that point, but about fifteen feet into the woods.  The tombstones, which once stood in the field, were broken and thrown into the woods. 
Joseph B. White Cemetery – Travel from Sumter on Hwy. #521 north, go approx. 7 mi., the cemetery is near the intersection of Hwy. #521 and Beckwood Rd., in some trees; 1972; January 1993.
Pitts Cemetery – Travel from Sumter on West Liberty St., upon reaching the traffic light where Liberty St. intersects with Pinewood Rd. (#120), to the left and Wedgefield Rd. (763), to the right, veer right.  Go 1/10 of a mile to the next traffic light and turn right onto Loring Mill Rd., continue for 2 mi.  There will be a large double gate on the left, turn and go through the gate.  Go a short distance and turn left.  The cemetery is in a wooded area near the barn on this property which is now owned by Mr. and Mrs. Sim P. Wright.
Dinkins Cemetery – Travel from Sumter on West Liberty St., upon reaching the traffic light where Liberty St. intersects with Pinewood Rd. (#120), to the left and Wedgefield Rd. (763), to the right, veer right.  Go 1.8 mi., turn right on Keels Rd., go for 1/10 of a mile to the home of Mr. Ray Davenport.  His house will be on the left, the cemetery is in his yard.  Legend has it that slaves were buried in a part of the cemetery, where there is a mound. No graves were visable.
Hooper Cemetery – The following tombstones are near the Church of the Holy Cross and are on private property.  The information from WPA cemetery records from 1936.
York grave – In the Wedgefield-Stateburg area of Sumter County there is a grave containing the remains of a 17 yr. old Civil War private.  The family, who owns the property, wish to keep the exact location private because of possible harm.  Grave of Pvt. James York from Rabun, GA age 17, Capt. Price – Commanding Officer

Section C
Concord Presbyterian Church and Cemetery – Eight miles east of Sumter on the old Brewington Rd.  Leave Sumter on Hwy. #378 east, continue east until reaching Rd. #475.  Turn left on Rd. #475 and travel until it dead ends at Rd. #81.  Turn left on Rd. #81.  The church and cemetery are a short distance away.
Weston-Osteen Cemetery – Travel from Sumter on Hwy. #378 east, go for approx. 5 mi. from the center of town. Turn left on Simpson Rd., Rd. #948, the cemetery is located approx. 5/10 of a mile down Simpson Rd. and 200 yards to the right, behind Thomas Jackson home.  The drawing on page 207 of “History of Sumter County” by Gregorie of the Jonathan West farm indicates the location of the cemetery.
Reams Cemetery – Travel from Sumter on Hwy. #76 east, (Florence Hwy.).  From the intersection of Hwy. #76 and Hwy. #378 east drive 2.4 mi., at the end of a long curve in the highway which curves to the left, turn right and drive down a dirt farm road to a two story house.  This is the residence of Mrs. A. T. Reames and is 5/10 of a mile from the highway.  The cemetery is 5/10 of a mile behind the house in a wooded area and can only be reached by a farm road.
Salem Black River Cemeteryalso known as Brick Church – Leave Sumter on Hwy. #378 east and go to Hwy. #527, Dabbs Crossroads, turn left and go 1.5 mi.  The church will be on the left with the cemetery in the rear.
Brogdon-Fort Cemetery – Travel Hwy. #378 east out of Sumter for 5 mi.  The cemetery is located 500 ft. off highway on the right, in a field with a few trees and bushes.  This cemetery is on property formerly owned by the Joe Brogdon family.
Brunson Cemetery – Travel from Sumter on Hwy. #378 east to Brewington Rd., (Hwy. #S 43-35), turn right and go 1/10 of a mile, the cemetery adjoins the property of Mr. & Mrs. Grady Fincher and is located behind Mayewood School.
Lewis Chapel Methodist Church – Leave the city of Sumter on Hwy. #378 east and travel until reaching Hwy. #S-43-58.  There should be a sign for Brogdon Cemetery and Lewis Chapel on the right.  Turn right on Hwy. #43-58 and go approx. 1.7 mi., the church is on the right.
McFaddin Cemetery – Starting at the traffic light at Liberty St. and Lafayette, travel Hwy. #378 east for 8.2 mi. to Brewington Rd., (S43-35).  Turn right on Brewington Rd., go for 1.5 mi., on the left will be a small white building which will be Peoples’ Store.  The cemetery is located behind George & Shirley Peoples’ brick house, which is behind the store.  In 1984 what was left of the cemetery was broken stones in a cow pasture.
Seymour Cemetery – Travel from Sumteron Hwy. #378 and go for about 4 mi., turn right on Hwy. #43-58. Continue for 2 mi. to Hwy. #43-50, turn right and go 1.4 mi., the cemetery is at the intersection of Hwy. #43-50 and Hwy. #43-255.  Mr. H. L. Player ownes the farm on which the cemetery is located.
Brunson, Scurry, Jones, Yates Cemetery – From the overhead bridge on South Main St., US Hwy. #521, continue south for about 9 mi. to Boots Branch Rd., S43-50.  This is 7/10 of a mile beyond Graham Baptist Church.  Turn left on Boots Branch Rd., go 1 mi., cross railroad, to Britton-Brogdon Rd., S43-82.  Turn left and go 1/10 of a mile to first farm road on left.  Cemetery is 1/10 of a mile off Britton-Brogdon Rd.  Paved roads all the way to the farm road.
Zoar United Methodist Church – Leave Sumter on Hwy. #521, go to Hwy. #94 which dead ends on Hwy. #521. Turn left on to Hwy. #94 and proceed until this road is crossed by Hwy. #82.  Turn left on Hwy. #82 and go about 4/10 of a mile to Hwy. #260, and the church can be seen just a short distance down the road on the right; 1976; 1992
Providence Baptist Church – Leave Sumter on Hwy. #15 south, continue until reaching red light where Hwy. #15 and Hwy. #25 intersect.  Turn left on Hwy. #25, which is also known as The Old Manning Rd., go for about 5 mi.  The church and cemetery will be on the left; April 1992
Nettles Cemetery – Leave Sumter on Hwy. #15 south, after passing the traffic light at the Shrine Club, continue for 1.7 mi.  On the right will be a small sign with Bethel Church Rd. on it, turn right and go 1.2mi. to Pocallo Springs School.  Just a few feet pass the school yard will be a mailbox, this road will lead to the home of Mr. G. A. McLeod.  The cemetery is a short distance from his house, and can only be reached by walking.
Davis Family Cemetery – Leave the city of Sumter on Hwy. #521 south, continue on to Graham Baptist Church. The church will be on the right at the intersection of #32 and #521.  A short distance from the church on #521 there will be a marker near the road indicating the cemetery is in the rear of the lot.;1992.
Broadway/Galloway Cemetery – Take Hwy. #15 south from Sumter, turn left on Hwy. #25 at the traffic light in front of the Shrine Club.  Go 5 mi., Providence Baptist Church will be on the left, continue beyond Briar Branch Rd., turn right at Haven Rd.  Go 1/10 of a mile, the cemetery will be on the left, enclosed with a chain link fenced. Haven Rd. is a red clay road.
Davis Cemetery – Travel from Sumter on Hwy. #521 south, (Manning Rd.), go about 10 mi. toward Manning.  This private cemetery is on the west side of Hwy. #521 on the Allard Brogdon property.
Calvary Church of the Nazarene Cemetery – From the intersection of Liberty and Guignard Streets, proceed south on Guignard until you reach Hwy. #15 south, turn right and go south for 4.3 mi.  At the end of the duel lane continue on for 1/10 of a mile, then turn right on Nazarene Church Rd.  Go 3 mi. south, you will pass the new Calvary Church of the Nazarene on your right, but the cemetery is at the old church building, which is a short distance on your left, at the intersection of Hwys. #535 and #543.; March 9, 1988
Jones Family Cemetery – Leave Sumter on Hwy. #521 south, go for 5/10 of a mile beyond Rd. #94.  The cemetery is on the right side of highway, about 2 blocks in a field on the old Howard Jones Place.  This land now belongs to Billy Davis, Mulberry Baptist Church is on the opposite side of the highway.
White Family Cemetery - From the city of Sumter, take Hwy. #521 south until you reach county road #375.  Go 1.5 mi. farther, you will make a right turn and go about 1 block off the highway.  The cemetery is located on the old J. B. Britton place.; November 15, 1973
Hodge-Rodgers Cemetery – Travel from Sumter on Hwy. #15 south, when reaching the stop light at the Shrine Club, turn left on Hwy. #25.  Proceed to an area known as “Spoonville”, approx. 1.5 mi., turn left on Marshall Rd. This road dead ends at the cemetery, 1 mi. from Hwy. #25.; April 28, 1992
Wells Cemetery – Travel from Sumter on Hwy. #15 south until reaching the traffic light at the Shrine Club.  Turn left onto Old Manning Rd. and go 8/10 of a mile to Tindal Rd.  At Tindal Rd. go 6/10 of a mile to Vining Rd., this will be on the right, follow Vining Rd. until the road ends, then turn left on a narrow road and go about 900 feet to the cemetery. 
Jones Cemetery – behind the Fire Dept. Training area off Fulton St.
Ward Cemetery – Leave Sumter on West Liberty St., upon reaching the traffic light where West Liberty intersects with the Wedgefield and Pinewood Rds., follow the Pinewood Rd., (Hwy. #120), for about 3 mi.  Turn left on Kingsbury Rd., go approx. ¾ mi. and turn left onto Wardland Rd. This road makes a sharp turn, then comes back in the direction of Pinewood Rd. The cemetery is in a field to the right, enclosed with a chain link fence.
Green Acres Cemetery – Leave Sumter on West Liberty St., upon reaching the traffic light where West Liberty intersects with the Wedgefield and Pinewoods Rds., follow the Pinewood Rd., (Hwy. #120), to the red light at Savannah Square Shopping Center.  Turn left at the traffic light and go approx. 5/10 of a mile to Lewis Rd., turn right, the cemetery is on the left behind Green Acres Assembly of God Church.
Lewis – Singleton Cemetery –  Leave Sumter on West Liberty St., you’ll come to a red light where West Liberty St. intersects with the Wedgefield Rd. to the right and the Pinewood Rd. to the left.  Bear to the left on the Pinewood Rd., go for 1.9 mi., you’ll pass Westside Baptist Church on the right, and Sumter Memorial Stadium on the left.  Past the stadium will be three houses on the left, turn on a small dirt road by the third house.  This road is Wardland Rd., follow it for about 1200 ft., then turn left again, the road winds around between some trees, and behind a house, the cemetery is on the left.;1992
Brunson – Loring Cemetery – Travel from Sumter on West Liberty St., upon reaching the traffic light where the Wedgefield Rd. bears to the right and the Pinewood Rd bears left, go left.  Turn left on the second street past the traffic light, just a little past Millwood Baptist School, this will be Georgiana Dr.  The cemetery is located in a group of trees just past 1911 Georgiana Dr.
Weeks grave – Off Manning Ave., in back of Sumter Funeral Service, Inc.  It was said that at one time there were 4 stones here, but only one could be found in 1992; Lula B. Weeks 1872-1889

Section D
Bethel United Methodist Church Cemetery – Leave Sumter on Hwy. #401/Oswego Rd., proceed north about 8 mi. to the village of Oswego.  In Oswego Hwy. #S43-12/Leonard Brown Rd. forks to the left, proceed for 2 mi. unitl it junctions with S43-106/Lodebar Rd.  Bethel Church site in the northwest corner of these two roads.  The cemetery is behind the church.
Clarks Cemetery – Leave Sumter on Oswego Rd./Hwy. #401 and proceed for approx. 5 mi. north.  Clarks Methodist Cemetery is on the right in a parcel of woods which is directly across the highway from the present Clarks Church and cemetery which is owned by Afro-Americans.
Hebron Presbyterian Church Cemetery – Leave Sumter on Hwy. #15 north and travel about 10 mi. to DuBose Crossroads.  Hebron Church sits on the right in the southeast corner of the crossroads and the cemetery joins the church property.
Capers Cemetery – Leave Sumter on Hwy. #15 north, travel for approx. 7 mi.  After passing Whites Mill Pond, travel 2 mi. to crossroads #S43-105, continue pass the crossroad for 6/10 of a mile.  On the left will be a private road with a gate and sign for Antioch Cemetery, (this is a black cemetery and formerly known as Dicks Graveyard.)    This road leads into a wooded area to the Capers family burial plot on the left and Antioch is on the right.
Old Sardis Church Cemetery – Leave Sumter on Oswego Rd./Hwy. #401, continue for about 10 mi.  Upon reaching a crossroad turn left on county road S-31-52, continue for 4/10 of a mile to junction S-31-309.  Turn right on S-31-309 and proceed for 3/10 of a mile.  On the right will be an old road bed just before a large canal crosses the highway.  This old road bed appears to be the entrance to Old Sardis Church Cemetery.  It is believed that Old Sardis Church was situated at this same location.
Holleman – Izlar Cemetery – Travel from Sumter on Hwy. #401/Oswego Rd., go about 8 mi. to the village of Oswego.  Hwy. S43-12/Leonard Brown Rd. forks to the left, follow this road for 2 mi. to crossroads (junction with S43-106/Lodebar Rd.)  Bethel Church sits on the northwest corner of this crossroads.  Turn right onto Lodebar Rd./S43-106 and travel a very short distance until reaching a sign with “Lee County” on it.  A few hundred yards further there will be a dirt road on the right just before crossing over the bridge at Swimming Pens. Take this dirt road and it will lead directly to this small cemetery. The cemetery is a circle of trees and undergrowth that can be seen from the main road.
Black River Cemetery – Travel from Sumter on East Liberty St., Hwy. #76, toward Mayesville.  From the traffic light at Liberty St. and Boulevard Rd. go for 9.8 mi.  Turn on a dirt road that is marked with a lovely brick and wrought iron entrance gateway.  The dirt road edges a field with the cemetery a short way to the right.; June 1992
Chandler – White – Brown Cemetery – Travel from Sumter on the Oswego Rd. (Hwy. #401), upon reaching the Brewington Rd, turn right. The cemetery is on the left side of Brewington Rd., about ¾ mi. back in the woods on lands owned by Wilbur Spann.
Foxworth – Moore grave – Leave Sumter on Hwy. #15 north, go 5 mi. to Rd. #43-81, Brewington Rd., turn right and go a short distance.  The grave is on private property. Penelope V. Moore Foxworth 1832-1861 w/o T. D. Foxworth
Chandler – Brunson Family Cemetery – Located on the Old Brewington Rd. between Shaw’s Crossroads (formerly Chandler’s Crossroads) and Concord Presbyterian Church on the Sumter County Landfill property, known as the Old Shaw Place.  Permission to enter this property has to be obtained from the landfill personnel.
Chandler Family Cemetery – Leave Sumter on Hwy. #76 east, go 5 mi. from the Hwy. #378 by-pass.  Continue for 1 mi. beyond Rocky Bluff Crossing, turn right on what was formerly Goza property, but is now owned by Union Camp Paper Co.  The cemetery is 1.4 mi. behind the Henry Goza home.
Bradley Cemetery- Located near the intersection of Hwy. #41-57.  It is south of Mayesville, SC.
Old White Family Cemetery – From the traffic light at Hwy. #15 north and West Pike Rd. travel Hwy. #15 north for 7/10 of a mile to S-23-271, turn left.  Continue for 1.3 mi. and then turn left onto Jefferson Rd., go 2/10 of a mile and turn right on a dirt road which has a fence on each side.  Continue for 1/10 of a mile, on the right is a fenced in area with stones.

Section E
Shiloh Methodist Church Cemetery – Take Hwy. #378 from Sumter, continue to Hwy. #53, which forks to the left.  Turn left on Hwy. #53, go approx. 4 mi. to the crossroad of Hwy. #59.  Turn right on Hwy. #59 and proceed until this road dead ends at Hwy. #58, go a short distance reaching Hwy. #48, which forks to the left.  This is the village of Shiloh with the church located at the corner of Hwys. #58 and #48.
Goodman – Frierson Cemetery (on Dials Bay) – Travel from Sumter on 378 east, go beyond Black River to Hwy. #53 on the left.  Turn on Hwy. #53 and go 4 mi. to Hwy. #59, turn right go 1.5 mi. to Hwy. #58, turn left, go a short distance to Hwy. #48, turn right.  The road to the cemetery is close by on the right.  Watch for some bulk tobacco barns, the road goes in front of the barns, into the woods and fields before reaching the cemetery.
Kirby Cemetery- From Sumter take Hwy. #378 east until you come to I-95.  Take I-95 north and continue until you get to Hwy. #341 exit.  Take exit, go south on #341 for 7/10 of a mile.  The cemetery is on right side of road in woods.; 1980
Moore – Tomlinson Cemetery – From Sumter take Hwy. #378 east and continue until you get to State Road #53, which will be to your left.  Continue on #53, (it crosses I-95), until you reach road #62, this junction is just beyond St. John’s School.  Turn right and continue on #62 for 3.2 mi.  It will dead-end with County Rd. #150.  Turn right on #150 and cross Douglas Swamp.  About 300 yards after crossing the swamp, turn right on the first dirt road.  It will be necessary to walk to the cemetery which will be to your right.  It is enclosed by a fence.
Friendship Cemetery – Leave the city of Sumter on Hwy. #378 east and travel in the direction of Turbeville until reaching SC Hwy. #53 which forks to the left.  Turn left on Hwy. #53 and travel until this road is crossed by SC Hwy. #58.  Turn left on Hwy. #58 and travel approx. 8/10 of a mile, just past where County Rd. #258 dead ends from the left on Hwy. #58.  The cemetery is on the left hand side of the road in a grove of trees.
Lemmon – 1 mi. north of Shiloh and west of Hwy. #58, in a grove of trees. John James Lemmon d. 1850 age 10 mos, 19 days s/o Thomas E. & Annmariah Lemmon
Pleasant Grove Baptist Church – Travel from Sumter on Hwy. #378 east, after crossing Black River, turn left on Hwy. #53.  Continue on Hwy. #53 to Hwy. #58, approx. 6 mi., this will be near I-95.  Turn left on Hwy. #58 and go 2 mi., the church and cemetery will be on the left.
Trinity Methodist Church – Leave the city of Sumter on Hwy. #378 east and travel in the direction of Turbeville until reaching SC Hwy. #53 which forks to the left.  Turn left on Hwy. #53 and travel approx. 1.4 mi., where County Road #61 forks off to the left.  Turn left and travel this road approx. 4 mi. just past where County Road #96 dead ends from the left on Hwy. #61.  The church is on the left side of Hwy. #61 with the cemetery located on the right side of the road.
Nesbitt Cemetery – Travel from Sumter on Hwy. #76 east, go to Mayesville.  Turn right on Hwy. #41 (Mayes Open Rd.), go to Rd. #57, turn left a short distance to Scottsville then turn right on Rd. #59.  The cemetery is near the old C.C. Road and Boykin Creek.
Hoyt Cemetery – on Hwy. #521/Old Manning Rd.
London/Grooms Cemetery – Travel from Sumter on East Liberty St., turn right on the Boulevard Rd. and go a few miles.  Upon reaching Racetrack Rd. turn left, go a short distance to Mims/Radical Rd., turn left.  The old cemetery was located in a field where an old barn now stands.  The cemetery was returned to cultivation about 45 years ago.
Mitchell Cemetery – Near where Hwy. #401 and Brewington Rd. intersect.  Turn right on Brewington Rd. and go 5/10 of a mile, there will be a narrow grassy road, (near a private home), that leads into a field where an area is covered with trees and grass, the cemetery was located here.
Logan Cemetery – On State Rd. #59 near Trinity.

Insert: Grove Hill Cemetery – In the Stateburg area and near the site of the now gone Grove Hill Plantation.  Leave Sumter and go west on Hwy. #76/378 for 11 mi. to the stop light at Hwy. #261.  Turn right and go 3 mi. to Fish Rd.  Turn right again and go 1 mi. around a curve and the road to the property will be on your left.  The cemetery is on the private property of Mr. Joe McCown.  Permission required to visit the location.

St. James Baptist – From Turbeville – Rt. 378 towards Lake City – turn right on Rt. 1785 (becomes Rt. 53 at junction) follow to junction of Rt. 53 and 187 – cemetery on left – founded 1906.
Coker Family – From Sumter – Rt. 378 towards Turbeville – turn right on Rt. 37 through New Zion crossroads – the cemetery is on the last dirt road to the right before junction of Rts. 37 and 53.
New Hope Christian formerly Mother Baptist – From Sumter – Rt. 527 towards Sardinia – turn left on Rt. 301 to Rt. 37 – turn right – church about 5 mi. past New Zion on right hand side of the road.  Founded in 1877 with many unmarked graves.
Gibbons Family – From Sumter, Rt. 378 towards Turbeville –turn right on Rt. 45 follow until junction of with Rt. 36 – cemetery just past the junction on right side of road.
New Zion Methodist – From Sumter, Rt. 378 towards Turbeville – turn right on Rt. 37 towards New Zion – the cemetery is about 1 mi. past the city on Rt. 37.
Lowry grave – From Sumter – Rt. 527 towards Kingstree – approx. 1 mi. south of Midway Church turn right on Rt. 54 – follow to the end – turn left on paved road – follow past St. Michaels Baptist Church – past trailer – turn in front of brick house to right of dirt road – go approx. 2 mi. on edge of field next to bluff of Black River – go left – marker approx. 200 feet on right. 
Midway Presbyterian – From Sumter – Rt. 527 past Sardinia – cemetery at junction of Rt. 527 and Rt. 40.
Old McFaddin also known as Sardinia Presbyterian – From Sumter – Rt. 527 to Rt. 104 – turn right – to Rt. 222 at Gable – cemetery at end of the road.
Gamble Family also known as Salem Baptist Church cemetery – From Sumter – Rt. 378 towards Turbeville – turn right on Rt. 37 (New Zion) – go about 1.5 mi. – cemetery is on the right side of the road on edge of woods – fenced. (Between Rt. 301 and Rt. 37 or Rt. 378 and Rt. 37) Resurveyed 1989 (some graves outside of the fenced are to the back).
Byrd-Gibbons – From Sumter, Rt. 378 towards Turbeville – turn right on Rt. 45 – go approx. ½ mi. to dirt road on right side of road next to small wood house – cemetery is down the dirt road – across a large field to the curve in the woods to the left – at edge of woods in Pudding Swamp –very difficult to find.
Wheeler Family – From Sumter, Rt. 378 towards Turbeville – turn right on Rt. 37 (New Zion) go about 2 ½ mi., turn left on dirt lane next to white unoccupied house.  Cemetery in on the left in a field amid a grouping of trees.  This cemetery is difficult to find and is in terrible condition.  The lane is known as “the Pit Road”.  Private property.

AREA #2
Spigner – Barwick Family  - From Sumter Rt. 527 to Sardinia – turn right on Rt. 301 – follow to Harmony Church on right, has a large bell in the front, approx. 2 ½ mi. – just past the church take dirt road to the right, road forks, go left to first house on left – cemetery is across the road at edge of field, about 100 yards, in small clump of trees. (Beaseley Farm).  There are several unmarked graves.  This cemetery was found in June 1990.
Old Harmony Church Cemetery – From Manning – Rt. 301 east – go past Trinity Church – on left – go approx. 2 mi. – on right is a two story white house back from the road – ask permission at house to go to cemetery – approx. ¼ mi. down lane beside the house on left across a small field in woods.  Cemetery is in very poor condition.  This cemetery was previously called “Jack Witherspoon Place.”
Durant Family – From Sumter, Rt. 50 (Brewington Road) – cemetery on left side of road just before Interstate 95 – down short lane.
Hodge Family – From Sumter – Rt. 50 (Brewington Road) – approx. 1.4 mi. past junction of Rts. 50 and 301 (Wilson’s Crossroads) – cemetery on left side of the road – narrow lane leads through two fields – approx. 0.4 mi. – cemetery at back. Hard to find.
Nelson – Plowden – Haynsworth Cemetery – From Sumter – Rt. 50 (Brewington Road) – past Brewington Lake – in woods on left side of road before church – enter at three cresote posts – cemetery about 150 yards into woods.  The Nelson name is sometimes referred to as Neilson.
Live Oak Church – From Sumter – Rt. 378 towards Turbeville – turn right on Rt. 50 (Brewington Road) – go to junction of Rt. 50 and Rt. 261, church and cemetery across the road.
Oliver – Bagnal Family – From Sumter, Rt. 378 to Rt. 50 (Brewington Road) – to junction of Rt. 50 and Rt. 251 – turn left – cemetery is in the woods on the left side of the road next to first house – hard to find and in desolate condition.  There may be more graves than the surveyors found, but impossible to tell for certain.
Brewington Church – From Sumter – Rt. 378 towards Turbeville – turn right on Rt. 50 at Maywood High School sign, continue south past Brewington Lake – church is on the left side of the road.  Brewington Church cemetery entrance gates are inscribed as follows: “In the Honor of two outstanding members of the Brewington Cemetery Association, J. K. Evans and T. L. Burgess, Sr.” There is also an inscription: “In memory of Mr. and Mrs. R. E. Evans who out of a heart of love and concern gave this land for the cemetery.”
Montgomery Family – From Sumter, Rt. 50 (Brewington Road) to Rt. 261 (Kingstree Road) – turn left – go to first driveway past entrance to Camp Harmony – house of stilts – cemetery on left of driveway at edge of woods.  Private property.
Foreston – From Sumter Rt. 521 through Manning to junction of Rt. 521 and Rt. 50 – turn right on Rt. 50 to Rt. 211 – turn right – cemetery on left side of road across from Lookout Tower Road.

AREA #3
Manning City – In city of Manning, on Memorial Street.
Clarendon Memorial Gardens – Located in city of Manning. There are two sections consisting of a section at the read called the old part, with the newer graves to the front.
Oak Grove Methodist – From Sumter Rt. 521 through Manning to Rt. 48 – turn right – church and cemetery on right side of road
Tisdale Family – From Manning on Rt. 261 towards Paxville, on the right side of the road are two houses, a new brick and one very old white frame house.  The cemetery is to the right of the white house.
Holladay Family – Cemetery located in town of Manning – Rudy Street (Rt. 335) – go to dead end – turn right and follow dirt lane – the cemetery is in a field on left next to abandoned house.
Dyson Family – This cemetery is so desolate and neglected it is almost impossible to find without a guide.  Mr. Dyson, from Dysonville, a section of Manning, took us to the cemetery.
Little Star Pentacostal Holiness – From Manning – Rt. 301 to Rt. 40 – turn left – church and cemetery approx. 3.8 mi. on right.
Thompson Family Cemetery – From Sumter Rt. 521 towards Manning – turn left on Rt. 301 to Rt. 40 – turn right – cemetery approx. 3.2 mi. – it will be before you reach Fair Haven Church.
Fellowship Cemetery – From Manning – Rt. 301 to Rt. 63 – turn left – cemetery approx. 0.7 of a mi. south of Rt. 301.  Cemetery apparently divided at one time by a wire fence.
Harvin – Hodge Cemetery – From Sumter: Rt. 521 to Rt. 401 to Alcolu – approx. 1.8 mi. north of Alcolu, an old store and a trailer home on right side of the road – Carroll Plowden land – across a large field in trees, about 1000 yards.  Mr. Plowden gives permission to go to the cemetery.
Jayroe Family Cemetery – From Manning – Rt. 261 towards Paxville - cross Hwy. 95 – turn on first road to right – go approx. 1 /2 mi. around bend in road turn right on dirt lane next to green house – cemetery is on left in stand of trees in a field.
Trinity Methodist Church Cemetery – From Sumter – Rt. 521 to Alcolu – turn left on Rt. 301 – church and cemetery on left side of road.
Rodgers – Harvin – Keels Cemetery – From Sumter – Rt. 521 to Rt. 220 – turn left – cemetery about 3/10 mi.
Davis Family Cemetery – From Sumter – Rt. 521 south  - approx. 1 ½ mi. beyond Sumter – Clarendon County line – large brick house on right, sits back from the road – cemetery is to the right of the house – across a field in small stand of trees. (Russell Farm)
Home Branch Baptist Church – From Sumter – Rt. 15 south to Paxville – turn left on Rt. 365 to Rt. 51 – turn right – church on left side of road.
Butler – Briggs Cemetery – From Sumter – Rt. 15 towards Summerton – turn left on Rt. 100 just north of Silver Road – this cemetery is inside a locked, fenced area formerly belonging to George Ivison Mims of Summerton.  The property now belongs to Georgia – Pacific.
Old Cochran Burying Ground – One marker. On Rt. 79 (Old Silver Road).
Paxville and Paxville Cemetery – Originally the burial ground for the Pack family.  Now owned by the City Cemetery.
Brown Family Cemetery – From Sumter – Rt. 15 towards Paxville to Brown Rd. turn right – dirt road on left just before 3 brick houses – road turns but continue straight ahead – cemetery closed in iron fence – overgrown – near Skinner Cemetery.
Skinner Family Cemetery – From Sumter – Rt. 15 through Paxville to Brown Road (approx. ¼ mi. ) – turn right – go to lane to left by large field just before 3 brick houses – park in small area by road -  follow wood line to the curve – cemetery in woods about 200 yards.
Richburg Family Cemetery – 3 mi. on Rt. 50 plus 3 mi. west on dirt road. (directions may not be correct)  Other directions given were: From Manning – Rt. 521 to Rt. 50 – turn right on first dirt road – cemetery should be on left side of the road.
Liberty Hill Free Will Baptist Church – From Sumter – Rt. 521 through Manning – turn right on Rt. 48 – turn left on Rt. 262 – go to junction of Rt. 211 – turn left, church and cemetery on left side of the road.
Union Methodist Church (at Wilson’s Mill)  – From Manning – Rt. 521 south to Rt. 103 – turn left – church and cemetery on left side of road.

AREA #4
Bethlehem United Methodist – From Manning – Rt. 260 south to Rt. 62 – turn right – church and cemetery on left side, just north of Davis Station.
Aycock – Shorter Family – From Manning – Rt. 260 south to Rt. 62 – turn right – Bethlehem Methodist on left side of Rt. 62 – above cemetery is behind Bethlehem on right side of dirt road, some graves are enclosed in fence, others are outside – very bad condition.  There may be other graves. 
Ward – Cobia Family – From Manning – Rt. 260 to Rt. 62 – turn right – past Davis Station to Rt. 127 – cemetery approx. 2 mi. on left side.
Jordon Methodist – From Manning – Rt. 260 south to Jordon – go past Jordon – turn left on Rt. 547 – church is on right side of road.
Horton – Savage Family – From Manning Rt. 260 south – to Rt. 62 through Davis Station to Rt. 127 – turn right on first dirt road to right (Horton Road) – cemetery on left side – edge of field in woods – near large live oak – difficult to find.
Dingle Family – Owner has requested that the location of this cemetery not be disclosed. Contact Sumter County Genealogical Society for more information.
Gethsemane –  From Sumter – Rt. 521 to Manning – Rt. 260 south to Jordon – turn right at crossroads – go approx. ¾ mi. to first dirt road on right – go approx. ½ mi. – cemetery on right side of road in woods at edge of field, can be seen from road.
Mitchum Family – From Manning – Rt. 260 just south of Jordon – cemetery was on the Woods property in 1983-84 – it was not re-surveyed in 1989-90 due to Hurricane Hugo, residents stated area was flooded – cemetery was surveyed in 1983-84.
Deep Creek Pentacostal Holiness – From Manning – Rt. 521 east to Rt. 48 – (Bloomville Rd.) – approx. 4.5 mi. – church on left and cemetery on right.
Cantey Family – From Manning – Rt. 521 to Rt. 48 (old River Rd.) turn left – cemetery on left about 2 mi. – has Cantey Cemetery sign.
Rehobeth – From Manning – Rt. 521 south to Rt. 48 – turn right – turn right when Rt. 48 meets Rt. 351 – approx. 2 mi. past the Cantey Cemetery on left side of road in a field.
Lesesne Family – From Manning Rt. 521 south towards Greeleyville – turn right on Rt. 48 – go to junction of Rt. 48 and Rt. 351 – turn left – the cemetery is on the left side of the road, across a large field in woods – field is just before you reach Pine Grove Church.
Benbow – Green Family – In the middle of the golf course at Goat Island Landing.

AREA # 5
Summerton Evergreen – From Sumter – Rt. 15 to Summerton, cemetery is in the city.
Summerton Baptist on Taw Caw Swamp – in city of Summerton on Rt. 301 – located behind the Clarendon Gas Company – gate to the left of the building – a sign indicates location of cemetery.
Brock Family Cemetery – From Summerton Rt. 26 towards Elliotts Landing, cemetery was located on right side of road, to right of old red house – across field, edge of woods.  Cemetery is just to the right of the Stukes Family Cemetery.  Cemetery is now gone. Previous survey.
Stukes Family Cemetery – From Summerton Rt. 26 towards Elliotts Landing, cemetery was located on right side of road, to right of old red house – across field, edge of woods.  Cemetery is just to the left of the Brock Cemetery. Only one stone left standing: Mrs. Unity Ann Chewning 1825-1851.
Andrews Chapel – From Sumter Rt. 15 to Silver – from Silver Rt. 57 to Rt. 30-6 (H. T. Everett Rd.) – cemetery about ¼ mi. on left.
St. Paul – From Summerton – Rt. 15 to Rt. 301 south – turn left on Rt. 102 go to Rt. 127 – turn right – cemetery on right at end of first road. 
Rawlinson Family Cemetery – From Summerton – Rt. 301 towards Manning – go past the Elizabeth AME Church on right – turn right on first dirt road – the road forks – go left – cemetery is on the right side of the road, there is a house on the left side.  The 1981 survey states the cemetery is on the Billy Rawlinson farm.
Humphrey – Benbow Family Cemetery – From Summerton – Rt. 301 towards Manning – approx. 2 mi., a log house on pond on right side of road – dirt lane runs along side of the house – the cemetery is on the right side of the lane near a large live oak – watch carefully can be seen from the lane. 1990 only three markers and one footstone were found.
Cobia – From Summerton – ¼ mi. north east of city limit sign on Rt. 15 – property of Roger Flowers.
Pisgah Pentacostal Holiness – From Sumter – Rt. 15 to Paxville, turn right on Rt. 307 to Rt. 41 – turn left, church about 2.5 mi. on right side of road (past Calvary Baptist Church)
Connors Cemetery – From Sumter – Rt. 15 to Paxville – turn right on Rt. 307 to Rt. 41, turn left -  Calvary Church on left, go past dirt roads in front of church – take next dirt road to right, at fork go right – past Weinberg’s Store – on right behind house.  Fenced.
Calvary Baptist – From Sumter – Rt. 15 to Paxville – turn right on Rt. 307 to Rt. 41 – turn left continue to junction of Rts. 41 and 463 cemetery on left side of the road.
James-Boyd-Johnson-Garden – From Rimini – Rt. 76 north – cross railroad tracks – ½ mi. turn left on clay road – brick house with trailer behind it – follow road around to another brick house with an old two story house behind it – cemetery is behind old house, down a slight hill and across a grass field – family living in brick house states cemetery in Sumter County but it is included here as the graves are of interest to Clarendon County researchers.
Richardson Family Cemetery -  From Rimini – Rt. 76 south – approx. 2.2 mi. past entrance of Elliott’s Landing – cemetery is on right side of road approx. 300 yards into a field.  There is a historical marker with a short history.

AREA #6
Ridgill –Directions are uncertain, the surveyors in 1989 could not find anyone who knew where it was for certain.  The best we have is west of Manning on Old Georgetown Road on the Sonny Dinkins farm.
Geddings -  Not found in 1989, directions from first survey: On Old Manning Road – turn left on dirt road on Sumter edge of woods – 1/10 of a mi. from Sumter County line in Clarendon County, go 1 2/10 mi. straight through woods and follow edge of field with woods on your left, graves 50 yards in woods on left.  One grave is marked, there are three others unmarked.  On the Old Geddings Place.
Robinson – was not found in 1989, the surveyors believe it may be the graves that are said to be on Rt. 260 at Jordon crossroads across from Margaret O’Bryan’s old house (new house of C. L. Hunt) and in front yard of old Graham home, now owned by Mr. & Mrs. Robert Welch.
Cuddoe Plantation – about 2 mi. south of the old Santee River Road, about 16 mi. south of Manning and about 12 mi. southeast of Summerton. Near the severance line of the Santee Reservoir, Lake Marion.
Cedar Grove Plantation – About 1 ¼ mi. southwest of St. Paul; 1939.
Frierson (Wyboo or Wiboo) Plantation – 15 mi. southwest of Greeleyville and 12 mi. west of Manning. In 1939 the cemetery was on the property of C. E. Smith. Now covered by the waters of the Santee Reservoir (1941).  The 28 unmarked, unidentified graves found in Frierson Cemetery were removed to Frierson reinterment cemetery located 11 mi. south of Manning, abour ½ mi. west of Rt. 260.  A memorial marker was placed at the reinterment site indicating “whence they came.”
Davis grave site – Enter at gate of old Richburg Home – between Hwys. 260 and 351 – turn right go 1 ½ mi. on Rt. 351 – between Bennetts Branch and Mill Branch – permission needed to enter land, now belongs to Ben Pendergrass of Wyboo – only marker in this location is of a Cyrus Davis d. 1903 76 yrs.

Atkinson graveyard – is mentioned in the will of Thomas Davis, Jr. (Item 6). Recorded in Will Bk. D-2 pg. 51, 23 July 1841, Sumter County, SC.
Bethany Baptist – from downtown Bishopville, take Hwy. #15 south to Manville.  Turn left on Hwy. #28.  The cemetery is approx. 2 ¾ mi. on the right on the church’s grounds; 1978.
Bethany  - Tiller – located in the Turkey Creek section of Lee County, near what was once Tiller’s Ferry.  To reach the cemetery from downtown Bishopville you travel on US Hwy. 15 north until you reach SC Hwy. 341; turn left on SC Hwy. 341 and continue until you reach S-188.  Turn left and continue past Turkey Creek Presbyterian Cemetery.  Bethany Tiller Cemetery will be on the left.
Bethlehem Methodist – From downtown Bishopville travel west on SC Hwy. 34 for about 1 ½ mi.   Turn right on S-15; the cemetery is just around the bend on left.; 1974.
Bishopville Presbyterian - this church and cemetery are located on South Main St. in downtown Bishopville; May 12, 1979.
Boykin – travel Hwy. 15 south from Bishopville for about 6 mi.  Turn right on Jamestown Rd. and travel about 9 mi. to McCaskill Rd.  Turn left and travel for about 2 mi. crossing first Jennings Branch and them Moscow Boykin Branch (both branches flow into Beaverdam Swamp.)  About 100 yards after crossing Moscow Branch there are two brick houses located on the right.  The cemetery is located approx. ¼ mi. behind the second house in the woods.
Boykin, Drury – about 1 mi. form the town limits is a branch known in earlier days as Baptist branch.  On the side towards Bishopville is the old Drury Boykin cemetery.
Calvary – Travel west on SC Hwy. 34 (Camden Hwy.) until you reach S-36.  Turn left on S-36 and proceed until you see the cemetery on the left.
Camp Ground Tabernacle – located east of Bishopville and east of Lynchburg, SC.  Leave Bishopville on SC Hwy. 341 toward Lynchburg.  Travel past Lynchburg Presbyterian Church just before reaching Sumter County line.  The cemetery is off Hwy. 341.
Carter – in a wooded area directly behind the home of the late Miss Mattie Cousar, several miles from Elliott on the St. Charles Road.; March 15, 1987.
Cedar Creek Baptist – Travel west from downtown Bishopville on SC Hwy. 34 (Camden Hwy.) for 6 or 7 mi.  Cedar Creek cemetery is on the right.; October 9, 1982
Cole – on the road to Timmonsville from Lynchburg (Hwy. 76), on the right, just beyond the Dye Works Plant (which is on the left) Cole’s Cemetery sign can be easily seen from the highway.: March 15, 1987.
Concord Baptist – located in the Lucknow section of Lee Count.  You may travel north on US Hwy. 15 for about 1 ¾ mi. until you reach SC 341.  Turn left on 341 and continue for a short distance until you come to a fork in the road.  This will be S-21.  Turn left on 21 and travel until you reach Concord Cemetery on the right.; January 8, 1983.
Corbett (Corbitt), James Family – no gravestones have been located.  Located on the Corbett Mill Rd. a few hundred yards south of the slave cemetery which is still in use.  The Corbetts were buried in the family graveyard in the 1840’s.
Cypress – located at the intersection of Hwys. S-31-223 and S-30-39, 9/10 of a mi. north of the present Cypress Cross Roads and 2 7/10 mi. south of US Hwy. 15.  It is situated in Lee County but prior to 1902 when Lee County was formed, it was in Darlington County.  Two brick columns are at each entrance of the cemetery and lanes through pine trees lead from the public roads to the fence-enclosed cemetery; 1976.
Davis – leaving downtown Bishopville on SC Hwy. 34 west.  After about 1 ½ mi. you will reach S-15 where you must turn right.  You will pass Bethlehem Methodist Cemetery on the left.  Continue for about another 1 ½ mi. until you come to S-21.  Turn left onto S-21 and continue for a few miles.  After passing Concord Methodist Church and Cemetery on the right, turn left onto road 268.  Go about 1 mi. to the dirt road which leads to the left toward a house in the distance.  Beyond the house and several trailers, the road leads to the Davis Cemetery.; March 28, 1979.
Davis Family – located on property owned by the late Thomas and Zina Lee Davis whose will is mentioned above.  Traveling south from Bishopville about 1 ½ mi., turn right on Browntown Road, travel about 6 mi. crossing Scape Ore swamp bridge and cross I-20.  Turn left on Elmore Road, travel about ¾ mi. and the cemetery is about 1 mi. behind the Elmore residence on your left.  Only two gravestones remained in the cemetery in 1985 but in the 1920’s it contained over twenty. Several hundred yards from this cemetery is the old Davis slave cemetery which is still in use as the Church cemetery of Jerusalem-Stuckey Baptist Church.
Dick – this cemetery is located about ½ mi. from the entrance to the Mayesville Cemetery, just beyond the Lee County line.  It is on the left side of Hwy. 76 north, between the highway and the railroad.  Spanish Bayonets are growing along the edge of the embankment; October 25, 1975.
Dixon – This family cemetery was returned to cultivation many years ago.  Its location would have been near Bishopville Finishing Plant.
DuBose, Peter – Historical Marker – the marker is on US Hwy. 15 approx. 2 mi. north of Bishopville just before reaching Lynches River Bridge.; May 1987.
DuBose – Young (aka Rosehill Cemetery)From Bishopville travel south on Hwy. 15.  Turn west on Hwy. 441 at Manville and continue until SR-108 is reached, turn left onto 108.  The cemetery is short distance off the road on the left near the intersection; 1981 and 1984.
Dunn – This cemetery is on the east side of US Hwy. 15S about 3 mi. from Bishopville at Gin Branch.  It was returned to cultivation years ago.
Dunn Family – this graveyard is located on the Bethune road on left that at one time belonged to W. O. Hancock.
Dunn, Sylvester – a family cemetery was mentioned in a Dunn family property transfer near Dog Island, Lee County.  The cemetery has not been located.
Grantham – located near the Lee County line in the Grantham community.  From Bishopville travel north on US Hwy. 15 until you reach S-13.  Turn left on S-13 and travel for approx. 3 – 4 ½ mi. until you reach S-186.  Turn right on 186 and continue until you reach S-150.  Turn right and travel until you reach the cemetery which is on the right; April 4, 1975.
Hanging Rock Baptist Church Cemetery – See Wells Cemetery
Hebron Methodist – (aka Hebron Methodist Episcopal Church) travel north on US Hwy. 15 for about 4 mi. until you reach S-13.  Turn left and continue for about 2 mi. until you reach S-26.  Turn right on S-26 and travel for another mile.  The church and cemetery are on the left.
Hephzibah Presbyterian – travel Hwy. 15 south until you reach Hwy. 34 (Manville-Wisacky Rd.).  Turn left on Hwy. 34.  The cemetery is behind the church.; August 6, 1967; updated August 19, 1973.
High Hills True Light – located in the Lucknow section of Lee County.  From downtown Bishopville you may travel north on US Hwy. 15 until you reach SC 341.  Turn left on 341 and continue for a short distance until you come to a fork in the road.  Turn left at the fork which will be S-21 and continue until you reach S-50.  Turn right on S-50 until you reach S-189.  Turn left on S-189.  The church and cemetery are located on the right.; February 19, 1983.
Hyet (Hyatt) – also mentioned in the will cited above (Will of Thomas Davis, Jr. recorded in Will Bk. D – 2 pg 51. 23 July 1841, Sumter County, SC. (Item 8).
Izlar – this plot has not been located; however it is supposed to be near St. Charles.
James (James Mill site) – From downtown Bishopville, travel east of SC 341 (Wisacky road) for about 2 or 3 mi.   Turn left and travel for about ½ mi. toward Lynches River near where Ratcliff’s bridge (of Revolutionary War) running battle was fought.; 1973.
James  – Hickory Hill section of Lee County off SR-7, approx. ½ mi. directly in front of the McCants residence – difficult to find; February 4, 1968
Lockhart – travel west from downtown Bishopville on SC Hwy. 34 (Camden Hwy.) for approx. 7 mi.   Turn right on S-32 and drive to “McGee town”.  Stay on the road to your right (S-106) for 2.8 mi.  The Lockhart cemetery is on your right several hundred yards behind a house in a grove of trees.; February 19, 1983
Lucknow Baptist – From Bishopville you may travel west on SC 34 until you reach S-15.  Turn right on S-15 and travel for a short distance until you reach S-21.  Turn left on S-21 and continue until you reach S-50.  Travel on S-50 beyond S-41.  The cemetery is located a short distance after you pass the intersection.; January 8, 1983.
Lynchburg Presbyterian – Hwy. 341 east of Lynchburg.  Leave the city of Sumter on Hwy. #76 east and continue until it intersects with Hwy. #341.  Turn right on 341.  The church is about 1 to 1 ½ blocks on the left side of the road; May 21, 1977.
