4) Thomas Cemetery – On Oakdale Court between North Henrietta St. and the railroad tracks. No markers could be found but brick-over grave sites are still visible. Many believe this to be the oldest cemetery within the city limits.
5) “John Sands Thomas was buried in an old family graveyard at a point on his plantation now on the residence lot at the intersection of McColl and Robeson Sts, just in the rear of the home of Mrs. Lura B. Rogers. All traces of this old burial ground disappeared many years ago.”.
6) “James Cook lived at the corner of Cook St. and Fayetteville Ave. It is said that he is buried in what is called Cook Graveyard, now near the intersection of East Main St. and Moore St., the present residence of Robert K. Breeden. No signs are now visible there of the graves, but it still could be seen about 35 years ago. (1895).”

In his house lived his Father, Charles, who was cared for by him, and who was the first person to be interred in the Cottingham Graveyard on the west side of Cottingham Creek, on the road from Bennettsville to Clio.”. Source History of Marlboro County, page 188, by J.A. W. Thomas.
9) Robertson and Ellerbe Graveyard – “Just back of Senator John L. McLaurin’s was the Robertson and Ellerbe Graveyard – not a sign or trace of a grave is to be seen, even the stately magnolia that marked Col. William T. Ellerbe’s grave is gone. Knowing this sacred spot was the last resting place of Maj. Drury Robertson and his wife, Mrs. Prince, their daughter – and her son, Col. W. M. T. Ellberbe and Lawrence Prince. – and other members of that family, also Wightman Easterling and sister, Mary Easterling, were buried there, we feel it is due to their memory to note this – while many are living to testify to its location.” 503 Fayetteville Ave.

He was buried in the Ammons Graveyard, on the present Colin Cottingham place, about 450 yards north of Hwy. 15. Joshua Ammons was the soldier who bore Lafayette off the battle field when wounded. When Lafayette passed through the county in 1825, Ammons went to Easterling Mill to meet him again and they embraced.
