STATE OF ALABAMA
COUNTY OF ETOWAH
Before me Adkins K. Davidson, a Notary Republic in and for the said county and state, personally appeared Eleanor Riddle Hofferbert, who, being by me first sworn deposes and says family bible records show that she is a descendant of John McDonald who served in the Revolutionary War. The line of decent being through her mother whos maiden name was Parrie McDaniel (McDonald). The said Parrie McDaniel being the daughter of Madison LaFayette McDaniel (McDonald), who was the son of John McDaniel (McDonald). The said John McDaniel (McDonald) being the son of John McDonald whos name was changed to John McDaniel Sr. as shown by records written in said family bible. On one page of said family bible appears records of birth and deaths in the McDonald family and on another page, which has been pasted over the McDonald record, appear the same names and dates of birth and deaths with the surname changed to McDaniel, separation of the pages reveling the McDonald record as identical with those of the McDaniel family.

Furthermore, on another page of said bible, in the Revolutionary Ancestor’s own handwritting, appears the following: “ John McDonald his book and the right owner thereof May 31st 1778”; and on another page is given the man name and address as follows: “John McDaniel, Chester District, Rocky Creek.”
The McDonald Bible record, (in affidavit format) was an attachment to a DAR application, 1931. It is the only bible record available to decendants of John McDonald, Revolutionary war Soldier from Chester, SC. His family is posted on the web site.
The color pictures of other McDaniel Bible record of Madison Lafayette McDaniel and his wife Buena Vista Colvin McDaniel, are an extension of the McDonald family on the web site. John McDonald (McDaniel) who married Ellen Johnston in Chester, and removed to Ga. and on to Alabama was the son of the Revolutionary War John McDonald. When he [et al] left Chester he covered over the names McDonald with McDaniel and was forever after named McDaniel. So stated in the Affidavit.
[Ed Note:] There was a bitter family battle over the will of a senior member of the family spanning three generations. When it was said and done John and Ellen Mcdonald/McDaniel pulled out 1825 for Ga. and on to Alabama, arriving in St. Clair County Alabama 1849.
